This is our newest family member Hank! Hank comes from a great friend and breeder here in Saskatchewan at Flatlands Kennels. He is an American Staffordshire Terrier and is registered with both the CKC and UKC. Hanks parents are completely health tested and are both titled in conformation, weight pull, obedience and more.
What's in the plans for Hank? Well that will depend on what he likes the most! After we get basic house manners and behaviors under control we will start with some Rally-O and possibly CKC obedience. I am also getting into nosework so that will be an option as well. Once he's a little older he will be introduced to agility work as well. If his breeder has her way I'll also get him a harness and do some weight pull as well.
For right now Hank gets to come out and about with me lots, seeing new sights, meeting new people, exploring new places. If you want to follow some of Hank in his training journey keep an eye on the Paws Here Facebook page for pictures and videos!!
Halle is my special girl. She came to me as a teeny five week old pup and has taught me so very much about dogs. She turned five years old in April and is such a joy to live with. She is playful, happy, well behaved, and very caring.
Halle loves to work and will do anything for a tennis ball, a game of tug, or a treat. She loves swimming and excelled at dock diving when she had the opportunity. I often joke that she is a lab in a bully body.
Halle has trained for agility for quite some time now and does get out to the odd trial. She has also trained for Rally-O and just this spring competed in her first Rally-O trial here in P.A. She did VERY well scoring over 190 for all three runs which earned her the title of CRN-MCL. She was also highest titling dog all weekend and won High In Trial on Sunday.
Halle has lots of agility and more Rally-O in her future, she is also attending a Nosework workshop with me in August so we will be started in that as well! If there are any dock diving competitions within ten hours of us we would also love to take part in them!!
Does this guy look familiar? He and Halle look like littermates, but they're not. They're the same color, the same age, but so very opposite. Tyson was a failed foster that came to us when he was about seven months old with every bad habit in the book! Not housebroken, would counter surf, rip up the garbage, had seperation anxiety and would break out of kennels, bark non stop, chew through doors, walls, baseboards, you name it! With some work we got him all figured out and he is now a very special, though quiet, part of our family.
Tyson is my laid back couch potato. He is content to stay at home and hold down the fort here while the other dogs and I go out training. Tyson has gone through basic obedience and even did a couple sets of agility classes but he really only liked the tunnel. If there was a course of just tunnels over and over with no set pattern he would have made a great agility dog. (Isn't that the case with some of them??)
Tyson takes his home and his yard very seriously, inspecting all new things that show up. If given the chance he will happily spend the day laying up across the dog walk and watching the world go by. He and Halle are bestest of friends and are never far from one another while we are all home.
Lily is our lovely old gal. She came from Gemini Pit Bull Rescue down in the states five years ago and was about 2-3 years old then. Lily just plain enjoys everything. She loves every one, all dogs, all kids, all truck rides and treats and trips out.
Lily and I did basic obedience then started quickly into agility. She absolutely loved it but due to her poor build after about three years of training and a couple trials she was 'retired' from the sport. I had her in with a canine physiotherapist and she said that though Lily wasn't lame yet if she continued jumping and straining her front end there would be problems.
Lily now gets to lounge with Tyson and hold the fort down at home. She still enjoys the odd trip out and doing some agility at very low heights for short periods of time. She is also a great 'neutral' dog for meeting new board and trains and clients here, plus she LOVES to show off her tricks.
